Common Questions
The questions recruiters ask most. Answered directly.
Spent several years in real estate, managing properties for high-net-worth clients. Many of them were IT executives and tech investors, and those relationships sparked a genuine interest in the field. Rather than drift into it, I made a deliberate choice: returned to school for cybersecurity, earned industry certifications, and started competing in CTF tournaments to build real hands-on exposure. The Marine Corps gave me the discipline to follow through.
Available now. Out of professional courtesy, I'd give my current employer two weeks' notice. No other barriers to starting.
Based in Dallas, Texas. Open to relocation when there's relocation assistance or the compensation makes sense. Flexible on work arrangement. Remote, hybrid, or on-site all work.
I address it directly. I stay active in CTF competitions, self-study topics like SQL, CIS Controls, and NIST frameworks, and keep a running list of tools to work through as I progress. I'm not waiting for a job to start learning. The initiative and follow-through come from years of military service. That doesn't switch off.
Inactive since separation. No disqualifying factors and no legal issues or incidents. Reactivation should be straightforward for any employer with a sponsoring need.
U.S. citizen. No sponsorship required, no restrictions on who I can work for, and no non-compete agreements in place.
I'm looking for an organization where I can keep developing as a professional and grow within the company over time. I'm already investing in myself, and I want to be somewhere that recognizes the value that kind of initiative brings. A strong learning culture matters to me too. Being around people I can learn from makes me sharper, and that's good for everyone.
Targeting $70,000 to $75,000. Open to discussion based on the full compensation package, benefits, and scope of the role.
